Remittance Settings

Your CRA business details drive how RoostPay calculates and routes payroll remittances. This article shows where to review and update them in Settings.

1. Open Household settings

  1. Go to Settings, then select Household from the sidebar.
  2. Under CRA Account Details, you’ll see the note: “This information is used to process payroll and ensure remittances are applied to the correct CRA account.”

2. Update your CRA business details

  1. Tap Edit on the CRA Account Details card.
  2. Update your CRA business number and your Legal name (business or household) — this name is used on pay stubs and legal documents related to your employees and the CRA.
  3. Tap Save.
Note: Both fields are required. If either is left blank, RoostPay shows "Legal name and CRA business number are required" and won't save your changes.

If your household has a linked co-employer, these CRA details are shared across both accounts — updating them here updates them for your partner too.

3. Household display name

Just below CRA Account Details, the Household display name card lets you set a friendly label (like “The Smiths”) shown only inside the app — it does not appear on contracts or legal documents. Tap Edit, update the Household name, and tap Save.

4. Payroll & tax settings

Go to Settings, then select Payroll & Tax for settings related to how remittances are funded and processed:

  • Payroll auto-approve — lets RoostPay automatically approve eligible shifts and expenses and submit payroll after each pay period, instead of waiting for your manual confirmation each time.
  • Plaid connection and Direct deposit — for connecting the bank account used for payroll withdrawals and remittances (coming soon).
  • TD1 forms — your employee’s tax forms, which affect how much is withheld and remitted on their behalf.
