Pay Cycle Settings

Pay cycle settings control how often you pay, when each period starts, and how many days after the period ends payday falls.

1. Open pay cycle settings

  1. Go to Settings, then select Payroll & Tax.
  2. The Pay cycle card shows the current schedule for the selected caregiver.

On the pay cycle card you’ll see:

  • Pay frequency — Weekly, Bi-weekly, or Semi-monthly.
  • For weekly or bi-weekly: the first pay period start and the next payday.
  • For semi-monthly: the two start days of the month.
  • Payday lead time — days after the period ends before payday. RoostPay recommends 3.

2. Adjust pay cycle

  1. Tap Adjust pay cycle. A stepped sheet opens. The step count appears under the title (Step 1 of 3, or Step 1 of 4 when a signed contract needs a frequency review).
  2. Closing the sheet discards anything you have not saved.

Step 1 — Choose a pay cycle

Select Weekly, Bi-weekly, or Semi-monthly. The current frequency is already selected. Tap Next.

Step 2 — Next period start

  • Weekly or bi-weekly, before the first submitted pay run: pick the first period start date on the calendar.
  • Weekly or bi-weekly, after a submitted pay run: the next start must fall in the window after the last closed period. RoostPay shows the last closed date, the next regular start, and a short pay period when the date you pick is not that next regular day.
  • Semi-monthly: enter the two start days of the month (1–31). The second day must be after the first. There is no calendar start date.

Tap Next.

Step 3 — Payday lead time

Enter how many days after the period ends payday falls (0–90). RoostPay recommends 3. The sheet shows the period end and the resulting payday.

Tap Save pay cycle when the frequency is unchanged, or when there is no signed employment contract yet.

Note: Changes apply to future periods. Submitted pay runs stay as finalized.

Changing pay frequency after the contract is signed

If a RoostPay employment contract is already signed and you choose a different frequency, a fourth step appears: Update pay frequency. It reviews the choices you already made — current frequency, new frequency, next start (or the two semi-monthly days), payday, and the effective date that will be written on the addendum. Tap Continue to sign. You are not asked to pick the frequency or the date again. See Pay Cycle Amendments.

Changing only the next period start or the payday lead time, with the same frequency, saves immediately. That does not open the review step and does not need a new signature.

3. What does not change

A short transitional period can appear when the next weekly or bi-weekly start is not the next regular day after a closed run. Overtime still uses the calendar week (Sunday–Saturday), independent of pay-period length.
