If you need to change a caregiver’s pay frequency mid-contract (for example bi-weekly → weekly), use a pay cycle amendment. Both you and your caregiver sign it electronically before the new cycle takes effect on payroll.
1. Choose the new cycle
You can start from either place:
- Go to Household management, open your caregiver’s record, then under Pay & schedule tap Update pay frequency. This is available once the caregiver’s employment contract has been signed.
- Or go to Settings → Payroll & Tax and tap Adjust pay cycle.
The same stepped sheet opens:
- Choose a pay cycle — select Weekly, Bi-weekly, or Semi-monthly.
- Next period start — pick the calendar start for weekly or bi-weekly, or the two days of the month for semi-monthly.
- Payday lead time — days after the period ends before payday (recommended 3).
Tap Next between steps. Back returns to the previous step. Closing the sheet discards the draft.
2. Review, then continue to sign
When the frequency you chose is different from the signed agreement, the last step is Update pay frequency. It is a review of the settings you already chose, not another form.
You’ll see:
- Current pay frequency and New pay frequency
- The next period start, or the two semi-monthly start days
- Payday from the lead time you entered
- Effective date — taken from that next period (after a submitted pay run, the day the new cycle opens, including a short period)
The sheet explains: “You sign first, then your employee. The new pay cycle applies from the effective date after both sign.”
Tap Continue to sign.
3. Sign and send
After Continue to sign, RoostPay opens Review & Sign so you can sign the addendum first — see Signing a Contract as the Employer. Once you’ve signed, your caregiver is notified to review and sign the same addendum.
4. What happens after both sign
Once your caregiver signs, you’re notified that the pay cycle amendment is complete. RoostPay syncs the new pay frequency (and the calendar fields from the review) to the payroll agreement so future pay runs use the new cycle. Until they sign, pay runs keep using the current frequency.
Changing only the next period start or the payday lead time, with the same frequency, saves from Payday lead time and does not create an addendum.
Edge cases
- A pay cycle amendment is already awaiting signature: finish or discard that addendum before starting another. Pay runs keep the current frequency until it is signed.
- Could not send the pay cycle amendment: shown if saving fails. Try again.
- Leaving Review & Sign without completing your signature discards the draft — start over from Update pay frequency or Adjust pay cycle.
