Accepting a Co-Employer Invitation

If your spouse or partner shares payroll responsibility for your caregiver, you can invite them to sign in as a co-employer on the same household. This article covers accepting that invitation. RoostPay calls this person your household’s account manager.

Your partner sends the invitation by email. Open the email on the device where you want to use RoostPay and tap the invitation link. It opens the Household invitation screen with a short introduction: “You’ve been invited to join as a co-employer on your partner’s RoostPay household.”

Your invited Email is shown (read-only) so you can confirm it’s the right address.

Note: This invitation is tied to one email address. If you're signed in with a different account, RoostPay shows "You're signed in with a different email than this invitation." Tap Sign Out, then reopen the link or sign in with the invited address.

2. Join as a new RoostPay user

If you don’t have a RoostPay account yet:

  1. Under Create password, enter a password (at least 8 characters, with at least one letter and one number).
  2. Re-enter it under Confirm password.
  3. Tap Create account and join.

3. Join with an existing RoostPay account

If you already use RoostPay for another household or as a caregiver:

  1. Tap Sign in to continue under “Already have a RoostPay account?”
  2. Sign in with your existing email and password.
  3. Return to the invitation screen and tap Join household.
Note: If RoostPay tells you "This email already has an account," sign in with your password first, then come back to this screen and tap Join household again.

Once you join successfully, RoostPay takes you to the Home dashboard, and you’ll have full co-employer access to contracts, payroll, and scheduling for the household. RoostPay does not collect or share bank account details for either employer — you and your caregiver’s pay and CRA remittances happen outside the app.

How the invitation is sent

Your partner sends the invitation from Household management (tap Invite co-employer), or from the Invite spouse urgent action on their Home dashboard — both open the same invite sheet. They enter your name, email, and phone and tap Invite partner, and RoostPay emails you the secure link automatically.

Edge cases

  • This invitation is no longer valid or has expired: ask your partner to send a new invitation.
  • This link is missing a valid invitation code: ask your partner to send a new invitation from RoostPay.
  • Passwords do not match: re-enter both password fields so they match.
  • We could not finish linking your account: wait a few seconds and try again. If it keeps failing, try an incognito/private browser window so no other RoostPay account is signed in.
  • We could not complete this invitation: contact your partner for a new invitation link.
