Ending an Employee's Employment

When you need to end an employee’s employment, you’ll find the starting point on their record in Household management.

1. Find the End employment option

  1. Go to Household management and open the employee’s record.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of their page to the End employment card.
  3. Read the note: “This will generate a Record of Employment and calculate final pay for your employee. Only use this if the employment has been terminated.”
  4. Tap End employment.
Note: Only use End employment once the employment relationship has actually ended. This is not the right place to pause or temporarily reduce someone's hours — for that, adjust their schedule or contract instead.

2. What happens today

Ending employment directly in RoostPay — including generating the Record of Employment (ROE), calculating final pay, and updating account access — is coming soon. Right now, tapping End employment shows a confirmation message explaining this, and no changes are made to the employee’s record.

3. What to do if you need to end employment now

Contact RoostPay support for help ending an employee’s employment and preparing their final pay and Record of Employment. Have the following ready so support can assist quickly:

  • The employee’s name and household.
  • Their last day worked.
  • Any outstanding vacation pay, sick pay, or unpaid expense claims that still need to be settled.

Edge cases

  • Nothing happens after I tap End employment: this is expected for now — the dialog you see is informational only. Your employee’s record, schedule, and access are unchanged until RoostPay support (or a future in-app flow) processes the end of employment.
  • I ended employment by mistake: since the current flow doesn’t make any changes, there’s nothing to undo. If you’re unsure whether an employee’s status changed, check their record in Household management — their contract and access will still show as active.
